A selection of delicious cheese and wine we love over the summer months…..
Goats cheese from the Loire, Selles Sur Cher, Valencay… with Sauvignon from the same region, Henri Bourgeois Pouilly Fume, or that old favourite Saint Veran from Domaine des Poncetys, nothing like a white Burgundy.
And then what would summer be without a picnic! And what would a picnic be without cheddar? And what would cheddar be without Montgomery, and even though it’s warm, there is always someone that wants a glass of red, a soft red, perhaps a pinot, and why not a Pinot from Domaine Albert Bichot, or a Pinot from the new world Heirloom Pinot Noir from the Adelaide Hills! Delicious. You could even chill it slightly.
And to continue on the British theme something from Neals Yard Creamery, always a favourite with our buying team (and customers) – Finn or Dorstone, washed down with some English bubbly from the much celebrated Wiston Estate.
And Rose, Chateau de Beaupre from Provence, or a Domaine Laroche Rose from just outside Bezier in Languedoc.
As for hard cheese, a young Comte, Ossau Iraty, Manchego, Ticklemore, Pecorino… sheep and goats cheese… and a blue for summer – piquant Roquefort.
And a few beers of course from Wimbledon Brewery, Braco Pale Ale, Quartermaster, or something from further afield award-winning Hitachino White Ale from Japan or Kona Big Wave from Hawaii.
Soft delicious Wigmore, balanced, fresh sheep cheese. Hard to beat. Best to finish on. With a glass of Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc, or Gavi di Gavi from La Giustiniana.
This summer you will be spoilt for choice…
