We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment by complying with government legislation, and by working closely with our community and team on initiatives which are easily conveyed and effectively managed.
PACKAGING
90% of our packaging and consumables are made of a recyclable, reusable or compostable material and we continue to work hard to mitigate this further by having a better understanding ourselves of our environment and the products and packaging our suppliers deliver to us meet environmentally friendly standards.
RECYCLING
Most of our locations operate a full waste segregation programme of cardboard, dry mixed recyclable, glass, bio, and general waste and we are working hard to help our locations with smaller blueprints to be able to adopt parts of the programme. This includes transferring low risk categories such as cardboard bales to our larger locations for central collections.
We are very proud of our 25-year pedigree where 80% of our fruit and vegetable range is sold as unpackaged items. Our customers have always enjoyed using brown paper bags to bring their avocados, bananas, oranges, and apples to the checkout.
