Charities We Support
During the pandemic we have continued to support our Bayley & Sage community by keeping 7 out of our 8 stores open (now all back up and running), keeping our shelves as full as possible, keeping our staff employed, (in fact we have hired over 40 new people) keeping many of our suppliers trading. We introduced a 10% discount for all NHS workers and have supported 3 NHS hospitals and Felix’s Foundation with food donations in excess of £5000.
We thank you for your support in enabling us to have done this but we would like to do more so we can support small and local charities. Many are suffering at the moment, donations & fund-raising activities have dried up and for
some April, May and June were the main fundraising months. They have had to furlough staff & restrict their activities. We have already pledged £40,000 to three charities but we want to do more, by supporting these charities below:
Those close to the heart of Bayley & Sage that we are actively supporting
Founded 25 years ago, the Lantern Arts Centre is a venue for the community of Raynes Park and beyond, where people of all ages and abilities can learn and develop performance arts skills. Including regular productions, children’s theatre clubs, studio hire, a costume store, film clubs, choirs, dance classes and much more. Check out their website:
Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity. Who work to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide much needed support to women with ovarian cancer. We are proud to share Jennie Allen’s advocacy in raising awareness through telling her story in the saga magazine, going on sky & ITN news in an act to raise awareness. Check out their website:
Momentum Children’s Charity supports children with cancer and life-challenging conditions, and their families, through our unique support programme offered at home and in local hospitals. A long-standing relationship through fun filled events such as the infamous Dragon Boat Race to donating 10% of anniversary takings last year. Check out their website:
Royal Marsden Cancer Charity is the trust for The Royal Marsden, a world leading cancer centre. We wanted to find a way
to make a direct and helpful contribution towards NHS workers fighting to save lives and will be fulfilling a wish list made up by the Royal Marsden team. Check out their website:
Bayley & Sage is also proud to have worked with the Felix project in getting food out to food banks across London during the Easter Weekend and look forward to growing this newfound partnership. Check out their website:
We wanted to go further than the 10% discount for the front-line workers of the NHS and as a result have been donating lots of nutritious and delicious treats to hundreds of frontline workers over at The Royal Marsden, Royal Brompton and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. We have also made a donation to the Duchess of Kent Maternity Unit at Hillingdon hospital; this special donation has been to provide training aids from Laerdal Medical which are vital for maternity staff to ensure proper hands-on experiences that means so much for patient care.
Thank you, Bayley & Sage Customers, for joining our journey and making these contributions a possibility!
City Harvest London
We are proud to be partnered with City Harvest – surplus food from our stores is collected and goes to various shelters where it is used to help provide meals to the vulnerable – please read on for more information on this amazing charity:
City Harvest puts surplus food to good use in a sustainable way.
We get surplus food safely to the hungry
While thousands of Londoners go hungry each day, safe, healthy and usable food is being disposed of as waste. City Harvest collects this nutritious surplus food from all segments of the food industry including restaurants, grocers, manufacturers, wholesalers, hotels and caterers.
Who do we deliver to?
We provide support to organisations that feed the city’s most vulnerable people
City Harvest regularly delivers high quality, nourishing food to organisations that provide meals to vulnerable people including homeless shelters, soup kitchens, after school programs, centres for veterans, and organisations that assist people with alcohol or drug addictions.
What impact do we make?
We distribute more than 8 tonnes of food weekly
The food we deliver helps organisations serve thousands of healthy meals each week and reduce their annual grocer bills-freeing up funds that can be reinvested in other vital support services like medical care and counselling. The food we recycle is diverted from going to landfill where it would release gases toxic to the environment.
How do food donors benefit?
We provide safe, easy, reliable food rescue
We make it simple for food donors to get their nutritious food to desperate people and reduce their waste collection costs. Customers prefer to patronise sustainable restaurants and retailers. Food Donor employees experience a huge morale boost from giving to those in need. Food Donors appear daily on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds. The Sustainable Restaurant Association encourages food donations to City Harvest.
What is really important to us?
Enabling people to eat great food with dignity
City Harvest vans are greeted with excitement and pride because people know that they contain high quality food from some of the best stores in London. We redistribute food that nourishes both body and soul. Each person that is served our food regains their dignity and starts to gain the strength needed to overcome hard times. We occasionally bring flowers!
We like to support local charities at our Bayley & Sage till points. The charities supported in our stores are chosen by the store managers. If you represent a local charity in Wimbledon, Battersea, Fulham, Chelsea, Chiswick or Wandsworth, please get in touch. Just fill out the form below and send it over to us – we look forward to hearing from you!
