In Italy, Prosecco is known as Il Vino dei Poeti--the wine of poets.
A dry sparkling white wine made in the northern region of Italy from prosecco grapes. It is specifically associated with the Veneto Region.
The result is a clear, straw-coloured and not too sweet, refreshingly effervescent white wine. Unlike champagne, Prosecco is meant to be consumed within two years, not aged in the bottle.
Not much needs to be done to enjoy it, but it brings added pleasure to anything it is paired with.
